2. Crafting an Otaku’s Dream: How a Fan Learnt 3D Modelling to Re-make General Store and Clinic

Growing up immersed in anime, video games and cosplay, I had a wild ambition of recreating the beloved world of General Store and Clinic. I wanted to take my fandom to the next level and design my own 3D models: replicas of the characters, locations, themes and clothing of this hit series.

  • Put my Creativity to Task– After some investigation I set out to learn 3D modelling and design, a software the professionals use to create these characters. With a little skills, patience and creativity, I made my first 3D model of a General Store and Clinic character.
  • Come up with My own Design– Wanting to challenge myself further, I came up with my own design for a character and began building it from scratch. Crafting the base shape, shading and adding details, I learnt how to bring life to my character from a blob of pixels.
  • Rendered the Final Product– Filled with new 3D modelling expertise, I rendered my design as a solid 3D image, complete with textures, shadows and shading that truly brought my character to life. It’s been incredibly satisfying to translate my wildest dreams into reality.

Accomplishing this dream of designer my own 3D model to recreate the General Store and Clinic universe was an exciting and valuable journey. Beyond the technical skills, I also gained a stronger appreciation for the craftsmanship and creative genius behind the characters and settings created by professional artists.
